Orange Is the New Black Season 2 Spoilers Update, Cast News: Netflix Premiere Date Will See Larraine Toussaint as 'Vee' Make Trouble for Regular Inmates?
There will be a new character added to the inmates at Orange Is the New Black, one that, according to actress Lorraine Toussaint and The Epoch Times may "upset the lives of all the inmates." So how will this new addition be changing the game inside the prison walls? And can we expect that this character will be as engaging as the other prison inmates we've gotten to know so far?
In an interview with Lorraine Toussaint, the actress who plays the new inmate, referred to only as Vee, Toussaint was quoted as saying: "I play a streetwise drug maven who runs children."
This year we'll see a less intense focus on Piper's (Taylor Shilling) story and more on the lives and backstories of the rest of the inmates, including Vee, who Toussaint claims is intent on drawing people in to something called "the big game."
It seems likely that tough-as-nails former head cook Galina "Red" will be bumping heads with Vee in her unfolding 'game.'
But actress Kate Mulgrew who plays the red-headed chef was anything but disappointed in her assignment to work closely with Juliard-trained Toussaint for the filming, and isn't the only one who acclaims her for her top notch craft and dedication.
Danielle Brooks who plays Taystee said that working with her was like "taking an Oprah master class."
For her part Toussaint feels like this role is a golden opportunity as well says remarking that it has been "probably one of the more complex characters I've ever played." Of the rest of the cast she says: "She's a complex, interesting character that interacts intimately with all of these characters. She's not afraid of intimacy."
We'll see how the new season unrolls for this incoming character and how prison life will be changed due to her arrival.
The new season of Orange Is the New Black will arrive on June 6th this year and can be played off of Netflix's instant streaming. Also, look out for Lauren Prepon, also known as Alex Vause, who will be seen in most of the episodes in the new season, contrary to previous claims that she would have a severely diminished role.
