Orange Is the New Black Season 2 Release Date: Netflix Premiere Date June 2014 - New Characters Will Be Revealed [TRAILER VIDEO]

Netflix's Orange Is The New Black (OITNB) Season 2 will be airing on June 6, 2014 and fans won't have to wait too much longer to get started on their OITNB episode binge.

Ahead of the release date, rumors have been giving a sneak peak of what's ahead for Season 2, and there are some unexpected plot twists that will certainly thrill fans of the Netflix Original show.

Creator Jenji Kohan has revealed that the upcoming season presents a "darker and more fractured" side of the female inmates in Litchfield.

Viewers saw Piper's bloody brawl with Pennsatucky during the Christmas pageant in the Season 1 finale. Now in Season 2, it looks like Taylor Schilling's character is going to spend an indefinite time in the SHU (Special Housing Unit).

Piper obviously survived her first solitary confinement in the primer episodes, but it looks like her punishment will be renewed following her crazed attack at the end of last season.

Spoilers have also indicated that Piper did not end up killing Pennsatucky in that vicious attack in Season 1, and fans will want to tune in to see the aftermath of that attack and how Taryn Manning's character survived the event.

A latest update to the series revealed that Manning is going to be a regular mainstay at least for this upcoming season, basically confirming that she survives Piper's attack.

Additional characters fans will want to see more of include Uzo Aduba (alias "Crazy Eyes") and Danielle Brooks (Tasha "Taystee" Jefferson). Lorraine Toussaint, who is playing Vee's role, will be a major character on the show for Season 2 according to reports. She used to be a street gangster running a drug dealing business by commissioning children as runners.

Entertainment Weekly has revealed an exclusive Season 2 sneak peek video featuring Piper's "egg yolk" wall art.
