OnePlus One vs HTC One M8 Review Comparison: Specifications, Features, Price

Both the OnePlus One and the HTC One M8 smartphones hold slots as two of the top handsets in 2014 with their remarkable features and performance specs.

A comparison between the two devices should assist an interested consumer who's looking to make a smartphone purchase.

The OnePlus One 5.5-inch LCD display is slightly bigger than that of the HTC One M8's 5.0-inch LCD display. Both handsets have a screen resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels though they differ in pixel strength. OnePlus One has a pixel strength of up to 401 ppi whereas the HTC One M8 can reach up to 441 ppi.

On the outside, the OnePlus One handset sports a magnesium exterior with a detachable back panel, allowing users to equip panels of bamboo or denim, if prefered. The HTC One M8 sports an elegant, brushed metal design.

Processor-wise, the two are both powered by a solid quad-core (Qualcom Snapdragon 801) Krait 400. The OnePlus One, however, is clocked at 2.5 GHz with 3GB RAM as opposed to One M8's 2.3 GHz and 2GB RAM.

Both are running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS, but OnePlus One is combined with CyanogenMod 11s UI while the HTC One M8 adapted HTC's Sense UI. Both Android versions are upgradable.

Memory-wise, OnePlus One has 16GB and 64GB internal storage variants with no microSD card slot. The HTC One M8 has 16 GB and 32 GB internal storage variants with an expandable memory support of up to 128 GB.

The OnePlus One has a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The HTC One M8 features a 4-UltraPixel rear camera with a dual LED flash. The main camera unit of the latter features 2 lenses to capture picture-perfect images.

The HTC One M8 houses a normal 2,600 mAh battery while OnePlus One is powered by a bigger 3,100 mAh battery. Both are not user-replaceable.

Both phones are WiFi-, LTE-, and WiFi hotspot-enabled. Also, both support NFC. The HTC One M8 has an Infrared port while OnePlus doesn't. OnePlus One's Bluetooth version is 4.1 as opposed to M8's 4.0.

HTC One M8 uses a nano-sim while the OnePlus One uses a micro-sim. The HTC One M8, 16 GB, 4G LTE version is priced at around $600 while the OnePlus One of the same version is much cheaper at around $465.
