Olympus just launched its newest product, which is already available for pre-order, the M.Zuiko ED 40-150mm f2.8 PRO camera lens.
It's a full-featured zoom that has a premium metal construction material and lens elements that are of professional quality, the Olympus website revealed.
The lens is not heavy, is weatherproof, and is installed with the world's first ever VCM autofocus mechanism.
The VCM (voice coil motor) autofocus feature of the 40-150mm f2.8 PRO, delivers smooth and rapid autofocus, which plays a significant role in producing top quality images.
The Dual VCM works by separating the camera's focusing mechanism into two lens group controlled by linear drive motors, thereby making the autofocus feature work faster and extremely noise-free.
The entire zoom of the 40-150mm f2.8 PRO is incorporated with 16 lens elements in 10 groups, and built with a premium metal lens body.
According to PC Mag, because of the Super EDA glass in the lens, the picture quality has less chromatic aberration, flares, and ghosting.
To provide users with the ultimate shooting experience, the 40-150mm f2.8 PRO was built to stand the harshest condition. With 11 separate seals, the lens is completely splashproof, dustproof and freezeproof.
It is also light in weight, as it's no more than two pounds and measures only 6.2 inches. With its combination of PEN or OM-D camera bodies, the 40-150mm f2.8 PRO has an extremely stable shooting platform.
Its aperture size of f2.8 ensures shooters that sharp quality images can be produced even when shooting highly zoomed in targets.
For really long shots, Olympus also offers a 1.4x teleconverter, which packs an additional focal length of 420mm.
Normally, a lens hood is a not an important feature when shopping for camera lenses, but with the 40-150mm f2.8 PRO, it comes with a unique lens hood which was integrated with a locking mechanism that can be collapsed back into the lens for easier storage.
The 40-150mm f2.8 PRO is sold for $1499.99 and will begin shipping in mid-November.
