Its Official, Adam Lambert Joins Cast Of Glee In Season 5
Who says underdogs finish last? Adam Lambert, American Idol's 2009 runner-up, will be joining the Gleeks this fall.
With Lambert's handsome, youthful looks and powerhouse voice, he is sure to effortlessly join the singing, dancing, and drama-mongering team at William Kinley High. Growing up as a performing high school student himself, Lambert is sure to channel his inner gleek for the performance.
Ryan Murphy, creator of the Glee franchise, tweeted, " I am thrilled to announce that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall".
In a retweet, Lambert adds, "I am so excited!! ;)".
Lambert is known for his flamboyant and outlandishly theatrical performances, and fans can anticipate that he will bring his inner div-o to the set of Glee. His glam-rock style nods to 1980s days past, with thick black eyeliner lining his piercing eyes. Lambert is often seen sporting an aggressively structured, architectural jacket & pants combo. Lambert often leaves audiences on the edge of their seats with his explosive, unpredictable performances, and we can hope that his flair for the dramatic will add to Glee's already feisty and fierce cast.
Glee will be entering its 5 season and has not released whether or not Lambert will be a returning guest star or be added to the long-term cast. Lambert is the second American Idol runner up to join the show, following Jessica Sanchez. Jessica Sanchez was the season 11 runner-up and has a two-episode run during last season. We can only hope that Lambert's role will be longer lived.
Although Lambert would love to play himself in the role, the actual character has not yet been released. Lambert told Hollywood Reporter in January of 2012 that he found Glee to "really paint a picture of what it's like to be an arts kid in high school".
Glee returns to air on Thursday, Sep 10 at 9 p.m EST on Fox.
