Obama Celebrates Gay Pride in NYC, Boasts How He Pushed Gay Marriage to 19 States and DC (VIDEO)
President Barack Obama acknowledged and celebrated his accomplishments in helping the homosexual community during a Democratic National Committee (DNC) and an LGBT fundraiser in New York City on Tuesday. Evangelical Christians are claiming his speech made a mockery of God's Word.
President Obama started his speech by saying, "The day that the Supreme Court issued its ruling, United States v. Windsor, was a great day for America."
"Pride Month is a time for celebration, and this year we've got a lot to celebrate. If you think about everything that's happened in the last 12 months, it is remarkable," he said, "In nine more states you're now free to marry the person you love"”that includes my two home states of Hawaii and Illinois."
He went on to say, "The NFL drafted its first openly gay player. The U.S. Postal Service made history by putting an openly gay person on a stamp"”the late, great Harvey Milk smiling from ear to ear."
The president seemingly very proud of his accomplishments, told the crowd, "When I took office, only two states had marriage equality. Today, 19 states and the District of Columbia do"¦Because of your help, we've been able to do more to protect the rights of lesbian and gay, and bisexual and transgender Americans than any administration in history."
The President charmingly declared, "We repealed 'don't ask, don't tell,' because no one should have to hide who you love to serve the country we love." and, "We believe in your dignity and equality and the United States stands with you."
Soon after the conclusion of the speech, Christians took to the web to share their thoughts on the president's bold declarations.
A Charisma News article pegged the President's words to the LGBT community, a "Mockery of God's Word." Others strongly agreed because of the contrasting scriptures on Homosexuality found in 1 Corinthians 6:9 and Romans 1:26-27 of the Bible.
A commenter on Charisma News wrote, "The really serious problem with this is that a large part of the church doesn't see anything wrong with this. They have no idea of the spiritual implications of having a Commander in Chief make these declarations."
"This is all part of the "fundamental change" that is taking place under Obama towards the ultimate goal of New World Order," another wrote.
A poll by the Public Religion Research Institute has showed in the past that many believers find themselves divided when it comes to their support of President Obama.
