Nude Church in Virginia Believes 'If God Made Us That Way' How Can It Be Wrong?

Many Christians believe in baring their souls when they go into the house of God but a small church in Ivor, Virginia believes in baring it all.

Pastor Allen Parker, the leader of White Tail Chapel in the town of Southampton says the idea is that nudity is 'the great equaliser', reminding all congregants in the church that they are simple human beings and that trumps any personal wealth or outward appearance, because they are all the same beneath the clothing.

Tail Resort labels itself as a "Family Nudist Community," where visitors enjoy all types of activities, including spiritual worship.

Parker compares his practice to the likes of Biblical accounts and Christ, "When he was born he was naked, when he was crucified he was naked and when he arose he left his clothes in the tomb and he was naked," he said. "If God made us that way, how can that be wrong?" Parker told ABC 13.

The pastor leads the church, standing in front of the pulpit completely naked as he preaches to the faithful gathered in his small rural church.

The nudity does not stop there, most of the congregants worship in the nude or some just exposing their chest or genitals because of harsh winter weather.

Several couples even get married in fully nude services, in which all members of both families are encouraged to shed their clothing before the couples take their vows.

"I consider this a gift and a privilege God has given me," Parker said about his congregation. "They're caring, they're understanding, and they're community and family oriented. We have one of the most involved chapels anyplace around. I'll put our church up against others around."

Although White Tail Chapel is a small church, during the summer mouths church attendance is standing room only.
