When it comes to flagship smartphones, the Apple iPhone is a brand name known around the world as a frontrunner in current the market. Competition for the top spot comes from Android rivals Samsung, HTC, and LG.

Nokia however, won't stand idle and be excluded from the bunch. The Nokia Windows phone market was first introduced in 2010 with the Lumia line. The release wasn't smooth at first, with its poor sales and shoddy models, but the Nokia Lumia is catching up, as it threatens to be a top contender even against the iPhone.

The Nokia Lumia 930 is especially regarded as a top contender for the iPhone 5.

When it comes to standing out from the competition, the Lumia doesn't exactly have anything unique to offer, but it does sport high end performance specs, an eye-catching design and a high performance camera.

The iPhone 5 on the other hand also has a high end performance spec-wise, but it offers a fingerprint scanner and an M7 motion co-processor which tracks its user's movements.

The Lumia 930 possesses a 5-inch 1080 x 1920 AMOLED display with 441ppi. The full HD resolution screen is augmented by ClearBlack technology for enhanced contrast. The iPhone 5 has a smaller 4-inch display with a lower 640 x 1136 resolution.

The Lumia is made out of plastic, but the plastic itself is rigid and sturdy, making it resistant to breakage. It also comes in a variety of colors which allows for a more personal touch for its owners. The iPhone on the other hand is made out of its signature two-tone aluminum and glass body, which gives it its premium look and feel.

The Lumia 930 runs on Windows 8.1 while the iPhone 5 runs on the latest iOS 7. The Nokia phone runs on a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB or RAM. In this respect, it is a high-performance device but not as nearly as fast as the Samsung Galaxy S5 or the HTC One M8.

The iPhone is lower on the benchmark, with a 1.3GHz dual-core Apple A7 processor and 1GB of RAM. Despite these numbers, it can still do most tasks without a problem.

The camera is where the Lumia 930 shines. It is equipped with a 20MP rear-facing camera that also enables taking 1080p videos at 30FPS. The iPhone only has an 8MP camera which might not appeal as much as the Lumia for consumers who take a lot of pictures.

By all means, the iPhone is more expensive than the Lumia, going for $650 while the Lumia only sells for $600. People might get more value for their money with the Lumia, but the iPhone still offers the fingerprint scanner and the motion processor, which might be a selling point for those who want those features.
