Nokia Lumia 730 Release Date, Specs Rumors: Teaser for September 2014 IFA Berlin Event Hints at Super Selfie Phone

If latest reports are to be believed, Microsoft may unveil the much-awaited Lumia 370, a super selfie smartphone, on Sept. 4 - just a day after Samsung plans to launch its Galaxy Note 4.

In fact, Lumia phones are reputed for having outstanding rear cameras, and if the latest rumors are true, even the front facing camera of the upcoming new Lumia smartphone may come with the same level of superior performance.

Early last month, Microsoft released a teaser invite for an event in Berlin, Germany, on September 4. The vivid orange invite asks, "Are you ready for more?" and features the round Lumia camera lens instead of the letter "o" in the word "more."

Although, Microsoft has yet to offer any further details, the focus on the camera lens suggests that the upcoming smartphone may be introduced at the said event. This belief gains ground from the fact that a few images of the smartphone also surfaced online a few days back.

Currently, the handset is codenamed "Superman," but it could eventually be released as a sequel to the Lumia 720. This makes the name Lumia 730 a distinct possibility, especially because earlier, the Lumia 530 was officially announced as the successor to the Lumia 520. In addition, chances are strong that the smartphone will be released through AT&T and Verizon.

Meanwhile, a leaked photograph may possibly have revealed the design of Lumia 730. The picture displays an unbranded green device, which seems to be made from polycarbonate, and incorporates a camera lens as well as a LED flash on the rear panel. According to the post, the device runs Lumia Debian Red software, which may possibly be an internal codename for the version succeeding Lumia Cyan.

As mentioned earlier, the upcoming smartphone will come with a superior front camera, appropriate to take great selfies. Apart from describing it as a "big selfie cam," there is no detail regarding the camera. However, consumers may expect some of Nokia's software tweaks, while the rear facing camera may be 8-megapixel with a Carl Zeiss lens, in addition to enhancements like low light performance.

There are rumors that the Lumia 730 will have a 5-inch display with a 720p resolution. The device will possibly be powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 400 chip with 1GB of RAM, and have a total of 8GB internal memory. Last, but the least, it will incorporate the latest Windows Phone 8.1 software.
