Trent Reznor, Nine Inch Nails New Album New Tour 2013, Band Resigns with Columbia Records

Nine Inch Nails have signed with Columbia Records. The band is re-launching with a new album projected for release later this year.

Columbia Records made sense as a landing spot for NIN considering Trent Reznor's other band, How To Destroy Angels, is signed with Columbia as well. They released their debut full-length album, Welcome Obblivion, earlier this year.

Trent Reznor, the main singer, songwriter and driving force behind Nine Inch Nails has kept quiet about the band working on a new project.

"I've been less than honest about what I've really been up to lately," said Reznor. "For the last year I've been secretly working non-stop with Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder on a new, full-length Nine Inch Nails record, which I am happy to say is finished and frankly fucking great. This is the real impetus and motivation behind the decision to assemble a new band and tour again. My forays into film, HTDA and other projects really stimulated me creatively and I decided to focus that energy on taking Nine Inch Nails to a new place. Here we go!"

"We are thrilled at Columbia to work with a true renaissance artist like Trent Reznor on the return of Nine Inch Nails and an exciting new chapter of innovative music from them," commented Rob Stringer, Chairman of Columbia Records.

The new Nine Inch Nails line up includes Reznor, Alessandro Cortini, Josh Eustis, Robin Finck and Ilan Rubin. They will be playing several festivals this summer. It will be NIN first live performance in nearly four years. The first time the new line up will debut will be on July 26 at the Fuji Rock Festival in Naeba, Japan.
