Fans hoping that Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder may get back together after previously dating for three years may be left disappointed.

The Vampire Diaries love team previously broke up allegedly due to irreconcilable differences and age gap. Since then the pair have been reported to be dating other people, but none of those rumors have been officially confirmed.

Somerhalder, 35, revealed in a Chelsea Lately interview that he is still single and had in fact been rejected recently. The comment immediately led to fans online speculating that he could have been speaking about Dobrev.

"Actually, yeah. It recently happened. It's cool. It was very appropriate, and it was for the better ... It's good. You have to experience these things in life," Somerhalder said about the rejection.

Friends of the two have said that Dobrev was not ready to settle down while Somerhalder, who is 10 years older, was looking forward to having his own family already.

There is nothing but speculation about them getting back together, and it seems that Dobrev and Somerhalder are moving on with their separate lives by dating other people.

The 25-year-old brunette actress has maintained her silence about a rumored "secret" boyfriend, and it seems that that she wants to keep her private life, private.
