More than a year after their breakup, the world's favorite vampire TV couple Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder have managed to maintain a solid friendship. The estranged couple, who had been together for three years, announced their split half way through the last year.

Although the two never broke their silence about the reason for their breakup, an interview with Somerhalder last year has sparked rumors that one of them might have been taking things too fast, and that the other wasn't ready just yet.

Despite the breakup, the two managed to live up to their duty as role models to millions of fans worldwide, as they were able to preserve their friendship and still maintains a good working relationship to this day, in what could be considered a rarity in real life, let alone in Hollywood.

In a recent interview with Nylon Magazine, Nina maintains that she has no negativity towards her failed relationship with the 35-year-old actor.

The on-screen couple made headlines earlier this year when they accepted the People's Choice Chemistry awards, where Somerhalder gave Dobrev a kiss.

The duo first met through the popular TV series 'Vampire Diaries' which started in 2009, where Nina played the female lead role Elena and Ian took on the role of the bad boy vampire Damon. The two only publicly admitted that they were a couple back in 2011.

Now that 'The Vampire Diaries' is moving on to its sixth season, the exes have crumbled hopes of any reconciliation by telling the public. Both have expressed sobriety over their blossoming film careers as individual actors.

The 25-year-old actress will be seen in the upcoming comedy film 'Let's Be Cops', set to be released next month; while Somerhalder stars in 'The Anomaly', a sci-fi action movie released earlier this month.
