Nicki Minaj New Song: 'Anaconda' Making Waves

Nicki Minaj's latest hit single, "Anaconda" has been making waves and gaining hype as of late. The song is basically the singer-rapper's rendition of Sir Mix-A-Lot's 1992 hit, "Baby Got Back," but with a twist.

Sir Mix-A-Lot largely dominated radio waves and hit charts back in the early '90s with the "Baby Got Back" tune, the original song taken as homage to curvy women, or more specifically, women with sizable behinds, to say the least.

During an interview on MTV, Sir-Mix-A-Lot divulged that he was in constant communication with the "Marilyn Monroe" singer "every step of the way" during the creation of Minaj's latest viral song. This, despite the fact that the '90s artist has yet to meet the "Anaconda" singer in person.

Sir Mix-A-Lot also disclosed how impressed he was about how professional Nicki Minaj was during the entirety of their collaboration. The 50-year-old MC told MTV that Minaj constantly updated him and his group of how things were doing while she was in the studio, and that the rapper-singer would immediately ring him every time she came up with a new idea.

The Grammy-winning '90's artist also shared that Minaj periodically updated him of how things have been turning out for her "Baby Got Back" version in the studio the whole time while she was working there, and how he was also impressed by the way Minaj handled the business side of their collaboration.

Mix-A-Lot, however, was not involved in the post-production of the song, and was only able to see the cover art for "Anaconda" on the day it was released, and, as expected, he was impressed.
