When the 2014 NFL Draft starts on May 8, many college football stars' dreams of becoming an NFL player will come true, but many experts wonder who will be the No. 1 pick when the Houston Texans make their selection tonight at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
The NFL Draft 2014 will start at 8:00 p.m. ET and can be watched online through live stream via the link provided below (free for subscribers).
Some NFL Draft connoisseurs think the first pick in this year draft will South Carolina Gamecocks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, who had terrific college career totaling 24 sacks in three seasons. Houston Texans owner Bob McNair talked about his potential No. 1 pick.
"You take a guy like Jadeveon Clowney. He's obviously the best player in the draft, but he's a defensive end. He's not a quarterback. If he's a quarterback and the best player it's easy, but that's not the case. So can that defensive player have a greater impact on the success of your team than one of these quarterbacks? It's not a sure thing that he is," said McNair to FOX 26 in Houston.
Other experts believe Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel will remain in the Lone State and get drafted by the Texans tonight. Manziel believes that whichever NFL team that drafts him tonight will not regret making that decision.
"I believe they will, personally," he said Wednesday at a league-sponsored function in Lower Manhattan. "I know in my heart how good I want to be and how committed I am to this game," said Manziel to ESPN.
Another NCAA player who is expected to be drafted tonight is Missouri Tigers defensive lineman Michael Sam, who recently coming out of the closet a few months ago. He recently received the Arthur Ashe Courage Award by ESPN for "his courage and honesty that resonates beyond sports."
"I just feel like, you know, because I came out, was the first one to do it -- I think I can be a beacon for others, young athletes ... who are maybe gay or maybe not," he said. "And I think I could be a beacon for these people -- a light that, like, 'Hey, I could be comfortable in my own skin and be like Michael Sam,'" said Sam to GMA on May 6.
