Nexus 9 Release Date, Specs: Leaked Twitter Image Reveals Similarities to iPad Mini & Nexus 5 Devices

A leaked image of Nexus 9 was revealed on Twitter last Monday. The photo from @upleaks, a known tech Twitter leaker, showed the possible features of the upcoming phone's design. Some things to note are that the back of the Nexus tablet sportes characteristics of a Nexus 5 design and an HTC logo.

According to Wall Street Journal, HTC will be the creator of the upcoming tablet despite initial rumors that Nexus 9 will come from the manufacturing lines of ASUS and Samsung.

According to the report, engineers of HTC have gone to Googleplex in the recent months to work on the new project.

The Google device has long been the hot topic in the tech news world with its apparent names HTC T1, HTC Volantis, HTC Flounder and Nexus 8H, to name a few. Even at this time, the California-based company has not given any official announcement about the new gadget yet.

Twitter leaker @upleaks recently made an announcement about the availability of the tablet saying "HTC T1#WL(CDMA/LTE model) [will be] coming to US and Japan."

Meanwhile, Nexus 9, in some images from Android Police, looks a lot like an iPad Mini from the front, but is very similar to Nexus 5 on the back.

It is also suggested that Nexus 9 will be 7.9mm thick and 14.7 ounces for the Wi-Fi only model. It also has zero-gap aluminum construction and the HTC style front-facing speakers.

It will have the Nvidia's new Tegra K1 chip, which was also used in the Nvidia's Shield tablet. This was previously just mentioned in a news leak from Android Police, but was later confirmed by legal documents from Nvidia.

Reports suggest that the newest Nexus tablet will be out by the third quarter which is just around the end of October. But still, no official statement was given by Google in this regard.
