Nexus 7 vs Nexus 9 Comparison: Review of Spec & Features - Google Tablet Face-Off

Google's Nexus 7 that released in 2013 is quite similar in design when compared to the recently launched Nexus 9. However, looks can be deceiving as the devices are quite different when it comes to their specs and features.

In terms of design, Nexus 7 and Nexus 9 both are very much same and have the standard Nexus look. This is despite the fact that Asus made both versions of the Nexus 7, while Nexus 9 was made by HTC.

However, one can easily distinguish the Nexus 9 by the device's brushed metal frame and a soft grip plastic body on the back. This device is available in a unique sand color. On the other hand, the Nexus 7 is available in black and white color options.

The two devices differ greatly in their screen sizes. While the Nexus 9 comes with an 8.9-inch screen. and a resolution of 2048 x 1536, the Nexus 7 has a 7-inch screen display. While the pixel density has been reduced to 281 ppi, the Nexus 9 presents an aspect ratio that can change from 16:9 to 4:3.

As far as the processors of the two devices are concerned, the Nexus 7 uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro with 1.5 GHz quad-core. On the other hand, the Nexus 9 is powered by an nVidia Tegra K1 processor with a 2.3 GHz 64-bit quad-core chip. There is no doubt that the Nexus 9 is packed with some serious power.

While the screen, as well as the processor, is evidently different, most of the specs of the Nexus 9 are simlar to that of the Nexus 7, including 2GB of RAM, 16-GB or 32GB of internal storage, NFC, optional 4G LTE and GPS. Neither of these devices comes with the microSD card slot option.

Undoubtedly, the battery performance of the Nexus 9 is superior when comparing the two. While the Nexus 7 only has 3950 mAH, the Nexus 9 has a massive 6700 mAH battery. On that note, the Nexus 9 can be used for a total of 10 hours.
