Nexus 6 vs Moto X Comparison: Review of Specs & Features - Which is the Better Buy?

While the Nexus 6 and Moto X are both manufactured by Motorola, and look quite similar too, there are some major differences between them. Consumers should be aware and consider these differences before making a purchase.

The Nexus 6 comes with a 5.9-inch Quad HD display along with 2560 x 1440 screen resolution. This device is similar to a tablet, and is somewhat superior to the Moto X, which comes with a 5.2-inch AMOLED display at 1920 x 1080. The Nexus 6 offers a more detailed display, since it has 493 pixels per inch compared to 423 of the Moto X.

In terms of the processor, Nexus 6 is ahead of the Moto X. Nexus 6 is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805, while Moto X sports a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801.

The system clock of Nexus 6 is 2.7 GHz, with 3 GB of RAM that assures the seamless opening and loading of apps compared to the Moto X's 2.5 GHz and 2 GB of RAM.

In addition, Nexus 6 runs on the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop, while the Moto X still uses Android 4.4 KitKat. However, Google has promised an update for the Moto X soon.

Both the Nexus 6 and Moto X come with a 13 MP rear camera and a 2 MP front shooter. However, there is a small difference between the two devices. The Moto X comes with a dual LED Ring Flash, HDR, UHD 4K video capture and 4X digital zoom. On the other hand, Nexus 6 comes with unique front-facing stereo speakers.

As far as the battery life is concerned, Moto X uses a 2300 mAh battery, while the Nexus 6 has a 3200 mAh battery. Both the devices are integrated with Motorola's rapidly charging technology - 6 hours use with 15 minutes charging. However, only Nexus 6 can be charged wirelessly.

The Nexus 6 is available in two variants - 32 GB and 64 GB with two color options - midnight blue and cloud white. Although, Moto X offers the same storage capacity it is only available in black and white color options.

The 32 GB version of Nexus 6 is priced at $649, while the 64 GB version costs an additional $50. Moto X is relatively inexpensive and comes with a price tag of $586 price tag for the 32 GB version. The 16 GB model is available for $535.
