Nexus 6 Release Date, Specs and Price Details: Device Will Run on Android L
Google has hinted that a release of Nexus 6 will be happening during the fourth quarter of this year.
Rumor has it that early this year Google will be scrapping their Nexus line to accommodate their new product called Android silver, but Nexus loyalists have petitioned against it and asked Google to continue expanding the Nexus brand. As a response, Google announced a confirmation appealing to popular opinion, saying that the Nexus smartphones will be back this year.
"People have been commenting about Nexus because there is something else and they think that means the end of Nexus. That is the totally wrong conclusion to make" stated Google's Android engineering chief, Dave Burke.
The Nexus 6 is said to be run on Android L which is set to release in the fourth quarter as well. So, it is fair to assume that Google will introduce Nexus 6 shorty after, probably October or November.
Nexus will be the first smartphone to have the Android L which is said to have a 5.5in QHD display with a quad-core MT6732 64-bit chip.
There are talks that it will house a 3GB RAM and a fingerprint scanner, according to a "trusted source" from Android Geeks, "Google is in advanced talks with several Asian fingerprint sensor suppliers, hinting that the Nexus 6 will be ready to take on Apple's Touch ID sensor," the tech aficionados reported.
Nexus 5 was released in October of last year and launched at $349 for the 16GB model, it is also expected that the Nexus 6 will debut around the same price range.
