Nexus 6 Release Date, Rumors: Last of the Nexus Series? Android L Coming With Device

With no mention of the Nexus 6 during the Google I/O Developers' Conference 2014, fans cling onto the rumors that lean toward an October or November release alongside Android L. There is also speculation that the device is going to be the last of the Nexus series, as Google is moving forward with the Android Silverlight program.

Though Google has yet to confirm any news, executive Sundar Pichar told media that the company is not releasing any Nexus device for the first half of 2014. This suggests that production of any upcoming handsets will take place in July or early August, following Google's timetable.

Avid fans of the Nexus series felt disappoint over insights saying that Nexus 6 is going to be the last of its kind. Android engineering chief at Google, Dave Burke, denied the news and defended that the Mountain View tech giant saying it has no plans of relinquishing Nexus from its product line, "People have been commenting about Nexus because there is something else and they think that means the end of Nexus. That is the totally wrong conclusion to make," Burke stated.

According to Know Your Mobile, Nexus 6 will mimic LG G3's QHD display measuring 5.5 inches. Other specifications are still yet to be announced, but Taiwan's Economic Daily News suspects that the device will run on quadcore MT6732 64-bit chip at 1.5 GHz processor.

LG is also rumored to serve as the OEM for Nexus 6, though officials from the company denied the report.
