Nexus 6 Release Date: Launch Coming After iPhone 6? High-Tech Specs Expected
Google's Nexus line hasn't been in the spotlight much in terms of upcoming and anticipated devices. For awhile, rumors led many techies to believe that Nexus 6 would be manufactured by LG, however that is not the case. Recently, LG Director Ken Hong said that Google has not approached LG when looking for a Nexus 6 manufacturer.
On that notes, reports published in July say that the Nexus 6 handset is already in the works. They mention that Motorola has taken the hot-seat in the production of the 6th generation Nexus smartphone. Also, it seems as though the code name for the device is "Shamu."
In terms of specs for the new device, the handset allegedly features a 5.9" screen and fingerprint scanning technology. Additional rumors suggest that the phone will be released shortly after the iPhone 6.
However, with all these rumors on the topic of the Nexus 6 - its manufacture, specs, release date - other speculation has not been considered. There are some of the view that Google has completely dropped its popular Nexus line, but this has recently been dismissed.
Nexus Program and Android Engineering head David Burke addressed the rumors and reassured consumers that Nexus is still very much alive. Burke's statement has apparently fueled the rumors about a Google-Motorola collaboration on the Nexus 6.
Additional rumors mention that Nexus 6 will feature high-ends specs, which is not common in the Nexus series.
