Nexus 5 vs Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Comparison: Review of Specs and Features

Google's Nexus 5, although recently reported to be no longer available on the market, is often pitted against Sony's Xperia T2 Ultra for its similarities. However, upon closer inspection, the devices are actually quite different.

Appearance wise, the Nexus 5 is 137.84 x 69.17 x 8.59 mm in length and weighs 130g while the Xperia T2 Ultra is 165.2 x 83.8 x 7.7 mm at 171.7g.

Nexus 5 boasts of a True HD IPS Plus capacitive touch screen, Corning Gorilla Glass 3 4.95" display capable of 1080 x 1920 pixels (445 ppi) resolution, while the Xperia T2 Ultra features a TFT capacitive touch screen, TRILUMINOSTM Display, Mobile BRAVIA engine 2 6" display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels (245 ppi).

Software wise, Google's Nexus 5 is running on Android OS, v4.4 (KitKat) while the Xperia T2 Ultra is preset with the older Android OS, v4.3 (Jelly Bean).

When it comes to hardware, the Nexus 5 leaves the Xperia T2 Ultra in the dust with its Quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400, Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 processor and an Adreno 330 GPU, which is much faster than the T2 Ultra's Quad-core 1.4 GHz, Qualcomm MSM8928.

When it comes to the smartphone's memory capacity the tables seem to have turned.,

The Nexus 5 does not give its users the option to expand its memory, and comes with an internal memory of 16 GB or 32 GB depending on the variant, along with 2 GB RAM.

The Sony Xperia T2 Ultra on the other hand, offers an internal memory of 8 GB with 1 GB RAM, but its external memory is expandable to up to 32GB.

Nevertheless, for consumers who prefer higher hardware performance, Google's Nexus 5 is still the sure winner.
