News Anchor Pam McKelvy Removes Wig to Show Natural Hair After Surviving Breast Cancer, 'God’s Delivered Me... I am More Radiant and Beautiful than I’ve Ever Been' (VIDEO)

A courageous Tennessee news anchor who recently beat breast cancer decided to confront the issue of narcissism by talking off her wig on an emotional live on-air reveal last week.

"I'm going natural. No more relaxers to straighten my hair," said Pam McKelvy of WMC-TV during a broadcast on Feb. 26. She was still wearing her wig when presenting a pre-produced segment about women and their "crowns of glory," in which she talked about how multiple chemotherapy treatments caused her to become bald.

After the segment, the ex-beauty queen and 15-year TV news veteran took her wig off, showing her newly grown-in head of short, lovely curls.

"All right, this is it. This is my new hair," said McKelvy as she cried and expressed gratitude toward her co-workers for being so compassionate during her breast-cancer affliction when she revealed her natural new look.

In addition, the Memphis news anchor is the mother of an autistic seven-year-old son named Ian. She first revealed her personal problems with the disease to her viewers back in 2012, including details of a double mastectomy and even experiencing chemo on the air. Last week, she encouraged self-acceptance to her viewers.

"I made my choice also because I think about the message I send to young women about confidence and self-acceptance," said McKelvy as she gave a shout-out to 12-year-old Vanessa VanDyke, a biracial student in Florida who was in danger of being thrown out of school if she did not change her "distracting" natural hair.

"The times are changing, and God's delivered me with a brand-new spirit and a head full of hair, and here it is," said McKelvy on the live WMC-TV broadcast just prior to unveiling her new look.

For McKelvy, going on the air minus her wig has been an inspirational move.

"I want everyone to know that no matter what you go through, it's not about what's on the outside, it's about what's on the inside," said McKelvy to her viewers on the live broadcast last week. "And I feel, on the inside, I am more radiant and beautiful than I've ever been."
