New York head coach Alain Vigneault revealed his thoughts regarding his squad's current two game losing streak as his team attempts to defend their home ice against and equally formidable team on Wednesday night.
"We're playing some solid hockey," said Vigneault to reporters.
"We lose the last two games in a shootout, so I would say that our 5-on-5 play in both (was good). We are taking steps in the right direction."
The Rangers fell the St. Louis Blues by a final score of 4-3 in a shootout on Monday Night despite the fact Martin St. Louis scored two goals in a losing effort.
"There were a lot of positives we take out," said St. Louis to reporters, "But this is a game of results. We have to find ways, and we didn't."
In that game, backup goalie Cam Talbot had 34 save, but suffered a defeat anyway.
"I thought I played pretty well. I hadn't been in a game in a while," said Talbot to reporters, "We have to find a way to win the close games, and that starts with me."
Now the Red Wings are looking to avoid a possible two game losing streak when the two squads battle each other at the "World's Most Famous Arena."
The Red Wings previously lost to the Buffalo Sabres by the final score 3-2 in a shootout on November 3.
"When a team plays the night before, you should jump all over them from start to finish," said Red Wings coach Mike Babcock to reporters.
"We had the puck all night. We had lots of opportunities, just didn't finish."
The game begins at 8 pm ET on Tuesday and can be viewed on TV on the NBC Sports network or online through live stream by clicking here.
