New York Jets will battle the Oakland Raiders on Sunday at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The New York Jets renew their AFC rivalry with the Oakland Raiders, as Geno Smith's squad looks to continue Oakland's current 13-game losing streak against teams that play home games on the East Coast.

"I don't want to talk about last year," said Smith to reporters at press conference on September 3, "(I'm) focused on what we have ahead of us, which is the Oakland Raiders. We're preparing for a tough team and we're getting ready to go out and play a hard game."

The second-year NFL QB explains why he is more focused about having a better season this year, than reminiscing about his team's 37-27 victory against the Raiders at MetLife in December.

"Last year doesn't matter," said Smith, "This year, I'm a lot more comfortable with the guys around me. It's a result of working hard and the preparation we've been putting in, the hard work that we put in the classroom and we just have got to stick at it (and) stay with it. Every guy's trusting one another and (that's) a good sign for our football team."

Raiders' QB Derek Carr looks to prevent the Jets from rebounding from a mediocre (8-8) record this past season, as the Oakland tries to redeem themselves from a dreadful (4-12) record last year.

"What's great about [Raiders rookie linebacker Khalil Mack] is he doesn't like to be wrong," said Oakland defensive coordinator Jason Tarver, according to ESPN.

"Sometimes you don't get off on the ball quite as fast as you do, or you're not quite sure. But really, the closer you are to the line of scrimmage, the more you fix things with your hands, your feet, and your knockback. You've got to knock them around first on the correct angle and then figure it out. So, he's gotten better and better at that."
