Two-time Super Bowl champion Eli Manning attempts to lead his Giants team to a road victory when he battles his QB counterpart Matthew Stafford and the rest of the Lions squad on September 8.

"It seems like they've been doing a good job and they've been mixing up coverages and techniques. They're playing aggressive and have been doing a good job not giving up any big plays," said Manning in a conference call on September 3 referring to the Lions' defense despite the fact Detroit finished their season with a 7-9 record last year.

"It's not a team that we play every year. We played them obviously late in the season last year, but I don't know if a whole lot has changed. I'm sure they haven't shown thrown everything out there in the preseason games as well, but they've still got talented players and do a good job of getting pressure on the quarterback."

Giants Head Coach Tom Coughlin revealed in a recent conference call how he plans to stop Lions' explosive WR Calvin Johnson (aka Megatron) in the upcoming game, as the New York franchise tries to redeem themselves following their 7-9 record last year.

"Well, you better know where he is and where he is all the time. You better have some adjustments prepared for him and you certainly have to set your coverage, or set some of your coverages to try to be in a position to take the things he does really well, he does a lot of things really well, and at least be able to contest with those," said Coughlin.
