New MacBook Pro Retina and MacBook Air 2014 Release Date: Likely to Launch Soon

A recent photo leak from Apple's store in Chongquing, China, has given rise to speculation that the tech titan is planning to launch a series of updated 15-inch Retina MacBook Pros. Apparently, the new Macbook Pros will come with new features, Haswell processors, and 16 GB of RAM. Also, an additional report claims that new 12-inch Retina MacBook Air laptops are being produced as well.

Rumor has it that a new 12-inch Retina Macbook Air will have the portability of the 11-inch model, but retain the powerful capabilities of the 13-inch model. Basically, Apple's new Macbook Air would be a healthy balance between the two versions of the laptop.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst with KGI securities, Apple may launch this new 12-inch MacBook Air in Q3 or Q4 of 2014. However, there is always the possibility of its release in early 2015.

Sources say that a 2015 release date would mean that Intel is having problems with their 14-nanometer Broadwell chips.

In the meantime, new reports say that Apple may be updating its MacBook Pro line.

Macrumors.com says that the supposed pricing chart of the Retina MacBook Pros line shows two standard designs priced at 14,288 yuan and 18,688 yuan, which is similar to Apple's existing pricing for its 15-inch notebook line in China. If this is true, then the pricing chart may suggest that Apple would retain its existing pricing rather than offering every new model for less, as the company has done for the MacBook Air earlier this year.

A third high-end design priced at 23,688 yuan is also shown on the chart, boasting a 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, 1TB of flash storage, and Intel's Iris Pro graphics plus an NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M.

Although Apple has yet to make any announcements regarding the release of the new MacBook Pros, some say they are set arrive in stores on Tuesday, July 29.
