New ‘Harry Potter’ Movie? Spin-Off Series Titled 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them'

The 'Harry Potter' spin-off movie series 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' is set to be at least a trilogy of films.

"Jo has a vision for this extension of the franchise, and for the first time, she is writing the script for what she believes is at least a trilogy," Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara said.

The author J.K. Rowling fired up the excitement amongst fans when she posted a riddle on Twitter, that she later revealed to be an anagram referring to Newt Scamander.

The 'Fantastic Beasts and where to Find Them' story will start in New York, set 70 years before Harry Potter went to Hogwarts.

The new screenplay follows the adventures of a magizoologist, Newt Scamander, a Hufflepuff hero who dedicates his life to the search for magical creatures in an "extension" of Potter's fantastical world.

Rumor has it that Rowling's 'Quidditch Through the Ages', another set of texts based off Harry Potter's Hogwarts will also be adapted for the new screenplay.

The story is based on a 42-page textbook set for Hogwarts pupils that was published in 2001.

Director David Yates, who helmed the final four of the eight-part 'Harry Potter' film series, will direct the first film of the spin-off movie series.

Yates is reported to reunite the 'Harry Potter' filmmaking team of David Heyman, J.K. Rowling, Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram.

The release date of the first film of the movie spin-off is two days before the 15th anniversary of 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone'.

The 'Harry Potter' franchise remains the most successful franchise in film history, with $7.7 billion in global box office earnings. On a side note, Tsujihara emphasized Warners' commitment to the movie.

The CEO also mentioned the Wizarding World theme parks in Orlando and Osaka.
