Netflix: The New Cable, "House of Cards" & "Arrested Development" Helping Put Them on Top
Netflix has become one of the fastest growing DVD rental companies in the past couple of years online.
With movies, TV series, and documentaries at your fingertips, Netflix has brought over 100,000 movies, ranging from any different category, to your home in a matter of seconds.
Netflix's latest hits have been from the two episodes called " House of Cards" and "Arrested Development". "House of Cards", starring Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright is a drama about a politically corrupt Washington D.C. in a world full of greed, sex, and politics. "House of Cards" features other well known actors and/or actresses as Kate Mara ( American Horror Story), Corey Stoll ( Midnight In Paris) and David Fincher from "Social Networking". With Congressman (Kevin Spacey) seeking revenge for the betrayal of the White House, this intensifying drama leaves fans wanting more after each episode.
The new upcoming season of "Arrested Development" is a comedy that follows a very prestigious wealthy family that has become estranged throughout many years. Based in Orange County, California, the story is about the family bonding over having their complete life savings and assets frozen from the patriarch of the family being arrested for fraud. The show originally began in 2003 and aired until 2006 on the FOX network channel, and has officially began showing new episodes on Netflix this spring.
By having both popular shows available on the Netflix accounts, it is being said that Netflix is becoming the new cable. According to Mercury News in Silicon Valley, millions of households have opt out of paying for satellite or cable each year due to Netflix and other existing accounts like it.
"During the first three months of 2012, the average consumer spent 2 percent less time watching traditional TV than the previous year. The typical consumer uses on average 15 minutes per day to watch related shows on their Wii , XBOX, or Playstation".
There has also been fans commenting on posts and blogs relating towards Netflix, speaking out about how much money they have saved by cutting out cable and buying the monthly $7.99 package for the millions of shows available to the buyer. One womens blog called "The Krazy Coupon Lady" stated that she had reportedly saved over 500 dollars a year from dropping cable.
That said, Netflix is fastly changing the way people continue watch their favorite shows on TV, yet it is truly up to the viewers to decide which it better.
