NEEDTOBREATHE Shares Story Behind 'Difference Maker'; Band Writes Song After Taylor Swift Tour and Learn to 'Give it Up to God' (VIDEO)

Christian indie/folk rock band NEEDTOBREATHE shared their behind the scenes story regarding the song "Difference Maker" on Air's Youtube channel.

The band spoke about being young students and deciding to pursue music. Everyone had told them it was a bad idea, but they decided to press on anyway.

They began to write the song right after their tour with Taylor Swift, and they were not having an impact. "Sort of struggling asking God, 'What's the deal here? We are doing all the right things'" said lead vocalist Bear Rinehart. He admitted that they were approaching their music in the wrong way and not relying on God, but rather how people responded to them and how they played. NEEDTOBREATHE had to learn to "give it up to God," which is what the song is about.

NEEDTOBREATHE has started a new video series called "Live Room Sessions" and have released videos from July 3 on, with the final installment coming August 14.

"We were a bit nervous because for many of these songs, this was the first time we had played them as a band since recording them. But as we began 'making noise' to test the microphones and get sounds, something happened that moved us to take chances with the setlist and the song arrangements that we are so happy we were able to document. Hopefully you can feel the energy of this incredibly special time for us. In retrospect, this session represents a landmark for NEEDTOBREATHE. This is the band getting our mojo back," they wrote.

Rivers in the Wasteland came out on April 15, and features 11 tracks of Southern Folk Rock.
