'NCIS' Season 12 Release Date, Plot Rumors: Next Season to Feature Gibbs’ Ex-Wife

Fans of "NICS," the police procedural drama on the CBS Network, have reason to cheer. According to TVLine, the producers of the show have finalized deals with all the five main cast members whose contracts were set to expire this spring, meaning they will all be back for Season 12.

The contract news clearly shows that there will be a Season 12, but CBS is yet to make an official announcement regarding any planned release date.

Pauley Parette, Sean Murray, Rocky Carroll, David McCallum and Michael Weatherly renewed their contracts not only for Seasons 12 but also for a Season 13. The remaining cast were already signed up to contracts last March.

Interestingly enough, this time CBS also plans to introduce Jethro's second wife to the show. Talking to TVLine, "NICS" producer Gary Glasberg revealed, "I can promise you that (the mystery wife) is probably going to get touched on in Season 12."³

Glasberg further said, "I have a little tiny space on my Dry Erase board for stories for next season, and that's already up there."

As the storyline goes, at first Gibbs married Shannon (Darby Stanchfield), who, along with their daughter, died in a tragic accident. Subsequently, he tied the knot with Diane (Melinda McGraw), who happens to the ex-wife of Agent Fornell. After his marriage to the 'readhead,' who is yet to be revealed, Gibbs exchanged nuptial vows with Stephanie (Kathleen York).

Meanwhile, "NICS" fans are always eager to know whether Pam Dawber, the real-life wife of series star Mark Harmon, will ever feature as a guest star on the hugely popular television series. Some have even claimed that she may even play the character of Gibbs' mysterious wife.

In fact, Glasberg too acknowledges this and says, "That would be fun," adding, "Everyone year someone says, 'Maybe Pam will be on the show, but it doesn't happen'."

Glasberg says, "I have a feeling that's a tall order, but it's worth a phone call."
