'NCIS: New Orleans' Season 1 Premiere Live Stream: Spin Off Show To Focus On Real-Life Story of Retired NCIS Agent Tonight
'NCIS: New Orleans' will take off at 9.00 pm ET, Tuesday, Sept. 23, on CBS. In fact, the characters as well as the back story of the program were introduced earlier in Season 11 of the original 'NCIS' series in two parts - "Crescent City Part 1" and "Crescent City Part 2".
Penned by Gary Glasberg, who is also the 'NCIS' writer, the show will feature Scott Bakula, who portrays Dwaye Cassius Pride, NCIS Special Agent In-charge, and Lucas Black, who portrays Christopher LaSalle, NCIS Senior Special Agent.
Episode 1 of 'NCIS: New Orleans' Season 1 has been titled "Musician Heal Thyself."
The official 'NCIS: New Orleans' synopsis released by CBS reads, "A case involving the murder of a Petty Officer, who is a former gang member and later mentored by Agent Pride, is investigated. Agent Brody is still trying to get acquainted with New Orleans."
The story of 'NCIS: New Orleans' Season 1 is based on the real-life adventures of a retired NCIS agent named D'Wayne Swear, although Glasberg says that 'NCIS: NO', "was never supposed to be a series."
In a recent interview with TV Guide, Glasberg said, "Every year I sit down with Mark Harmon, and we talk about sweeps episodes for NCIS. And I told him that I had heard that there was a retired agent in New Orleans who ran the office here for 20 years, and I thought we could do a fun story."
In a while, the show runner found himself absorbed in the story of the former agent, of course after meeting the agent in person, and "the rest is history." Currently, Swear serves as a consultant on the series.
When asked to comment if 'NCIS: New Orleans' will live up to the standing of its "mothership" series, Glasberg said that "the writers are trying to make sure it is the best it can possibly be".
The show runner went on to explain, "We're really trying to make an effort for this show, for this cast, for this team, to stand on its own and be unique and different - and yet still feel like NCIS, to still feel like it belongs in the family."
He went on to mention, "We absolutely want it to have its own feel, and you want to take advantage of everything that this city has to offer, and try and encapsulate it into these sets and these characters."
