Viewers have constantly asked the question, "is it real?" of the hit NBC mockumentary series "Siberia" due to its similarities with reality TV. The premise of the show centers around a group of reality TV contestants who are dropped off in the Siberian wilderness and challenged to survive the Siberian winter in order to be rewarded with $500,000. The pilot episode of the series reveals that this is not another reality TV show when Tommy dies in a fatal accident. It is discovered that Tommy was found near a suspicious looking footprint and paintings on the wall of men fighting a creature with the same footprint.

"Siberia" is compared to shows like "Lost" and movies like "The Blair Witch Project" due to its reality TV show style, such as the first person view and shaky camera angles.
