NBC's "Ironside" TV Show 2013 with Raymond Burr: 1967 Reboot of Original Show Has Signs of Success Regardless of Weak Cast and Plot [TRAILER] [LIVE ONLINE STREAMING]
NBC's new show "Ironside" will premiere tonight with Raymond Burr taking the reins as Blair Underwood in this 1967 reboot of the original show. The original show featured Blair Underwood, a cop who had been hurt in the line of duty and now had to use a wheelchair, taking on crime while handing out witty insults. "Ironside" is set in a nice timeslot just out of reach of primetime (10 PM EST on Wednesdays) so it could very well succeed.

USA Today gives us a rundown of the show when they write, "Blair Underwood steps in here as an angrier, far more sexually charged Ironside, a star New York detective shot in the line of duty. Thanks to a huge settlement with the city, he's been given his own building and handpicked team - played by Pablo Schreiber, Spencer Grammer and Neal Bledsoe. He's also been given a boss (Kenneth Choi) who spends the opening hour whining predictable lines such as 'There are procedures, dammit, and they need to be followed.'"

The show gets a little carried away with bending rights and purposely disregarding procedure. One scene features Ironside beating up a suspect in the back of his police car. The scene is supposed to be funny because the suspect can't believe that Ironside is crippled, but it ends up being disturbing because the suspect hasn't been convicted yet. Another scene features Ironside's team breaking into a suspects apartment without a warrant, because hey, warrants are for people who follow the rules, not us.
