NBA's Royce White Voted Worst Player in The NBA, Accused of Abusing Maxim Model Tania Mehra, Says She Was Hit in The Face. Possible Domestic Abuse?
Royce White, who was picked up by the 76ers in the offseason, was named the worst player in the NBA by ESPN's annual player rankings. White has also made headlines for domestic abuse. While dating Maxim model, Tania Mehra, White was said to have struck the model in the face earlier this summer. Police have investigated the possible domestic abuse situation because Mehra had a laceration on her face, but when giving her statement to the police, she said she had fallen. Now Mehra has gone back to the police and revised her statement saying that she was just covering up for White and that White in fact hit her in the face.
White who recently opened a Mental Wellness Center, has addressed the claims made by Mehra and is saying Mehra was an ex-employee and he is the victim of the situation because of his public status. White's lawyer also released the following statement:
"Royce has seen today's media reports that law enforcement in Texas is investigating claims of domestic violence by a terminated and disgruntled former employee of his charitable organization. Royce vehemently denies the allegations and is looking forward to a speedy and just resolution of these unfortunate and unfair claims. It is all too easy to make allegations, especially when directed at a person who is in the public eye. Royce hopes that the media will be equally attentive when these allegations ultimately are rejected."
Although, there are no charges filed against White the police are still investigating the allegations Mehra made. Stay tuned for more news and updates as the story develops.
