NBA Trade Rumors 2014: LA Lakers and Carmelo Anthony?
With the first week of the NBA free-agency on the way, free-agents such as LeBron James, Pau Gasol, and Carmelo Anthony, are being courted by multiple teams. These have sparked rumors among the community as well as the NBA on where these superstars will land their contracts for the next season.
Carmelo Anthony has just finished his meetings with the Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks, and Los Angeles Lakers. For the most part, the Lakers seems to be the most appealing for Anthony.
The Lakers are looking to enlist Anthony onto the roster, accompanied with other superstars like Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, and rookie Julius Randle. Pau Gasol has proved to be an essential selling point for the Lakers.
The New York Knicks are worried about what the Lakers have set up for Anthony, but are nevertheless confident that he will be re-signing with them for the next season. The player had a final meeting with the Knicks and was said to have left with "increased confidence," according to Yahoo! Sports.
Anthony is likely to sign with the Knicks despite the Laker's offer.
Pau Gasol is looking to leave the Lakers for another team if Anthony or LeBron don't sign up with them. The Oklahoma City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs, and the Chicago Bulls are all eyeballing Gasol to be a part of their team.
If the Lakers do manage to keep Gasol, the Bulls will have to do trades with them if they want to recruit the player. Offerings of draft picks would also help the Bulls in their case.
Most likely, Gasol will sign with the Thunders since they are a favorite to win the championship next season.
