The battle for Eastern Conference supremacy continues tonight when the two best teams in the East battle for the best record.
The Miami Heat (53-25) will face off against the Indiana Pacers (54-25) at the American Airlines Arena tonight in Miami. The Heat trail the Pacers by a mere 1/2 game in the Eastern Conference standings.
The Heat lost to the Memphis Grizzlies by the final score of 107-102 two nights ago. Lebron James totaled 37 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in a losing effort for the Heat on Wednesday night. The Heat are currently on a 2 game losing streak.
The Chicago Bulls (46-32) and the Toronto Raptors (46-32) are currently tied for the third and fourth playoff spot. The Brooklyn Nets (43-35) are currently in fifth place in the playoff standings this year.
Washington Wizards (40-38) and the Charlotte Bobcats also have the same record in the sixth and seventh playoff spot in the Eastern Conference standings. The Wizards lost a home game versus the Bobcats by the final score of 94-88 in overtime. In the eighth and final playoff spot, it looks the Atlanta Hawks will be clinch a playoff berth.
As a result, the New York Knicks would not make the playoffs. If that happens, it would be the first time in Carmelo Anthony's career that the NBA superstar would not make it to the playoffs. So far, Anthony has not won an NBA championship in his 11 seasons in the NBA.
