Kim Soo Hyun, ‘My Love From the Star’ News: Movie Version of KDrama to Premiere Summer 2014

My Love From the Star, the massive hit Korean TV soap opera is to be converted into a feature lenth movie to be released in China this summer, according to new reports.

Meng Jiang Wei, a Chinese production company, has said that the original 21-episode drama will be reduced to a two-hour movie which will focus on the most dramatic events and the love story between the two main characters.

An official statement released May 7 said that its targeted release date would be some time on August 2014 after all commercial rights are bought and finalized.

My Love, as what fans fondly call it, first aired in Korea and has since gone on to garner a massive fan base from across Asia, including a huge fan base in China and strong followings in countries like Malaysia, Philippines, and Singapore. 

The soap opera which stars Kim Soo Hyun and Jeon Ji Hyun tells a story of an alien living on Earth for centuries, slowly becoming disillusioned by the world and retreating into an isolated existence. However, the drama focuses on how he falls in love with a beautiful "self-centered but lovable" actress, and how they bring out the best in one another. The show documents their fight to be with one another despite facing criminal gangs and intergalactic obstacles.

The alien who is a man named is Do Min Jun (Kim Soo) conceals himself as a university professor but becomes increasingly obsessed with the love of his life (Jeon Ji) despite all his best efforts to keep his distance from her.

The Korean Herald reports that the My Love China mobie version will also feature previously unreleased footage, as well as behind the scenes cuts. 

Both Kim Soo Hyun and Jeon Ji Hyun have gained huge attention from their critically acclaimed performances in the famous SBS TV drama, and are currently among the hottest stars in Asian TV.
