MXPX Release 'Acoustic Collection' and 'Demos Collection Vol. 1'; Two Albums Offer Stripped Down Intimate Look at Band's 22-Year Career (LISTEN)

This weekend longtime punk band MXPX released two albums to celebrate their 22-year-anniversary - MXPX Acoustic Collection and Demos Collection Vol. 1.

"We were sneaky and released TWO albums today! Have you checked out the 18 track Demo Collection we released exclusively on Bandcamp just for our amazing fans? Give it a listen!" wrote lead singer and bassist Mike Herrara on the band's Facebook.

Yesterday the singer reminisced about the band's origins before posting the link, "Twenty-two years ago today we held our very first show, and now to celebrate we're thrilled to announce our new album MXPX Acoustic Collection is now available."

An MXPX bundle is available as well. It features the acoustic album, a blue band shirt that reads "At the Show" with the Pokinatcha Punk in the picture. The bundle is only $21 and can be picked up here.

According to the band's press release, fans have been clamoring for something of this kind for years, and now MxPx is delivering just in time for their 22nd anniversary.

"This was a request record from our fans. We've been asked hundreds of times to release an acoustic album and we finally have complied, just in time for our 22nd anniversary milestone. Most of these I've been performing live acoustically for a while now, but I rearranged some of them specifically for this release, giving the songs a whole new perspective and feel. Although these are studio-quality performances, I really tried to keep the overall sound of the production reined in and focused on the crux of the songs. All the tracks are my favorite ones to do acoustically," said Herrara in a press release. Herrerra also produced the entire album as well.

The longtime lead singer began performing these tracks on a small tour beginning with a Warped Tour date on July 6.
