'MTV Movie Awards' 2016 Winners, News: The Lonely Island Presents Medley; Zac Efron Apologizes To Seth Rogers’ Testicles
In line with the recent MTV Awards on Apr. 9 at the Warner Bros., various stars and films won the accolades. The event also featured The Lonely Island to celebrate Will Smith while Zac Efron said sorry to Seth Rogen's testicles.
J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" emerged as the Movie of the Year while F. Gary Gray's "Straight Outta Compton" got the True Story Award, according to Vanity Fair. As per the publication, Asif Kapadia's "Amy" was recognized as the Best Documentary.
Charlize Theron was hailed for the Best Female Performance in "Mad Max: Fury Road" while Leonardo DiCaprio was awarded the Best Male Performance in "The Revenant." Daisy Ridley from "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" got the Breakthrough Performance, while Ryan Reynolds from "Deadpool" received the Best Comedic Performance. Jennifer Lawrence from "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2" was awarded as the Best Hero while Adam Driver from "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" was hailed as the Best Villain. The Best Virtual Performance went to Amy Phoeler from "Inside Out" while the Best Kiss went to Rebel Wilson and Adam DeVine from "Pitch Perfect 2." In fact, the film also had the Best Ensemble Cast.
In other news, Smith, who is known for his roles in "Men In Black," "Focus," "Concussion," and Ayer's upcoming DC Comics film "Suicide Squad," was honored at the event with MTV's Generation Award, according to Mashable. As per the publication, the network invited The Lonely Island to perform a 1990's inspired medley of Smith's hit songs to introduce the actor.
Halle Berry and Queen Latifah presented the award to Smith, acknowledging him for being Hollywood's diversity champion. Smith, who was teary-eyed, said that he had dedicated the award to being a light of the world.
Meanwhile, Efron apologized to Rogers at the event, E! News reported. In a statement, the "The High School Musical" star said that Rogers had looked great before and he was sorry. The latter told Efron that he should be apologizing to his testicles, since they were shrunk to almost essentially nothing, which the actor did.
While Efron apologized to Roger's testicles, the latter said that they did not forgive the hunky actor.
MTV Awards 2016 was hosted by Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson, who made their grand entrance in "Mad Max: Fury Road" style. The actors sported leather get-ups and face masks while on their desert cars.
