Motorola X + 1 (X2) Release Date, Specs, and Price: Not a Budget Phone

As mobile giants Apple, Samsung, Sony and Huawei are gearing up to release new devices by the 2014 holiday season, Motorola is also getting ready to debut new gadgets by the end of the year. Among them is the much hyped Moto 360, and the company's next flagship phone, the Motorola X + 1, also known as X2 to many of Motorola's fans.

Though the company has more or less committed to a September-October release for the 360, the X + 1 release date has not been officially announced, though there are speculations that both gadgets will debut at the same time.

Meanwhile, TK Tech News has word from a source that an entire shipment of Moto X + 1s had gone missing, which may have resulted in many of the recent leaks. The site also leaked the Moto X + 1 photos and video, which are now circulating the Internet.

The leaked photos suggest that the exterior design has metal or aluminum accents on the side, while the back sports a wooden cover. The camera, which is rumored to be 12 megapixels with dual LED flash, has the Motorola logo below the lens.

According to GSMarena, the Moto X + 1 could be running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor chipset. It will also feature 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage, a microSD slot, and a power supply with 2900mAh. It is also rumored to be bigger and lighter than the current Moto X.

There has been some talk of the Moto X + 1 costing $400. Though lately Motorola has come out with terrific budget devices, the Moto X + 1 won't be a budget smartphone, but it is expected not to cost significantly more than its predecessor.
