Motorola's Moto 360 Release, Price, Specs: September 4 Launch, Android SmartGear Features New Design and Average Price

Android fans have something to look forward to with Motorola's Moto 360 that is rumored to be released at a September 4 press event in Chicago. The Moto 360's release date stretches far beyond the LG G Watch and the Samsung Gear Live, but its incredible and revolutionary features will surely make up for that.

Techies seems to be getting over the age of bulky and square smartgear like the Pebble Steel and the Samsung Gear 2, because the Moto 360 is going to be featuring a stylish new round design. Tech Radar reports that the new circular device is going to have a 1.5 inch blacklit LCD that's protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. However, the device will not be the greatest one to use outdoors, as it's not water or shock proof, but only water resistant.

The display boasts a 320 x 290 resolution with 205 pixels per inch and promises 40 percent less battery usage with its customized black background. According to Tech Radar, the battery can last up to 2.5 days on normal usage. Moto 360 automatically dims the display when idle for some time to save energy.

Interestingly, the device which is compatible with Moto G and Moto X, is equipped with a special orientation feature that allows right-handed or left-handed use.

In terms of charging, Moto 360 deviates from the current norm of micro USB charging, which experts deem highly compatible for accessories like this. The new Google watch charges wirelessly through a magnetic QI induction making that faster and more efficient.

Compatibility won't be an issue since Moto 360 can run both on Android 4.3 and Android 4.4 as well as the upcoming Android L. There are rumors that Motorola's carrier watch can be tethered to iPhone 5s and iPad Air through Bluetooth 4.0.

In terms of pricing, Moto 360 competes fairly with direct rival Apple's iWatch with a retail price of $249. This is a bit higher than LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live, but spectators deem it fit for its features and innovation.
