Motorola Moto 360 vs Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 Review: Comparison of Features and Specs [VIDEO]

Even though Motorola has yet to launch its much-awaited smartwatch, the Moto 360, people have already begun comparing the wearable device to the recently released Samsung Galaxy Gear 2. In fact, the unusual round shape of Moto 360 has already drawn a lot of consumer attention and it is expected to give Galaxy Gear 2 loads of competition when it is released later this year.

The features of the Moto 360, disclosed by Motorola, have taken the smartwatch field into an entirely new market. On the other hand, the features of the Galaxy Gear 2 are very akin to those of a smartphone, as it can take photos as well as make phone calls. It also comes with additional features such as a heart rate monitor, padometer, and many exercise models.

While the Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 smartwatch has a rectangular shape similar to the other existing smartwatches, the Moto 360 comes in a round shape - something totally new in the market. What's more, Motorola will be using Sapphire glass, instead of the commonly used Gorilla glass. In fact, Sapphire glass is four times stronger compared to Gorilla glass and protects the device from scratches. However, it definitely results in an increased price.

These two smartwatches use different operating systems. Although Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 operates on the Trizen OS replacing the older version of Android, the functions are similar. Speculations emerged that the Moto 360 will use the Android operating system. In addition, the Moto 360 comes with a wireless charging system, something most existing smartwatches lack.

However, Motorola has yet to release all of the specs for the Moto 360, which makes it difficult to say whether or not it will surpass the Samsung Galaxy Gear 2. As far as the features of this upcoming device are concerned, the Moto 360 has plenty to offer. Even before it is released, it is clear that the Moto 360 has posed great challenges to the other smartwatches presently available on the market.
