'Mortdecai' Movie Release 2014 Starring Johnny Depp, Gwyneth Paltrow & Ewan McGregor with Director David Koepp 

Johnny Depp is currently shooting the new movie Mortdecai in 2014 with director David Koepp. 

The film will be based on Kyril Bonfiglioli's comedic crime novel "The Great Mortdecai Moustache Mystery", the script is written by Eric Aronson. 

The new movie will also star Ewan McGregor, Olivia Munn, Gwyneth Paltrow and Paul Bettany. 

Plot: Juggling some angry Russians, the British Mi5, his impossibly leggy wife and an international terrorist, debonair art dealer and part-time rogue Charlie Mortdecai (Depp) must traverse the globe armed only with his good looks and special charm in a race to recover a stolen painting rumored to contain the code to a lost bank account filled with Nazi gold.

The 50-year-old actor is using a stunt double in the film who was also on hand recently to film scenes in which the character gets hit by a car and flies onto the windshield.

While the film is still shooting and so clearly not finished, they did play some early footage at the American Film Market festival last week and the response was very positive over all. No release date has been officially set yet. 

"They loved it, and I love it," Lionsgate motion picture group co-chair Patrick Wachsberger told Variety. "Johnny is creating an original character like Edward Scissorhands and Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean."

Depp rose to stardom with his role in the 1980's series "21 Jump Street" and eventually became known for taking very ambitious roles in movies such as Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Pirates of the Caribbean and many more.
