In a new gameplay trailer released by NetherRealm Studios, creative director Ed Boon revealed that Kano will be returning to the franchise in the upcoming 'Mortal Kombat X' title. He also mentioned that, "Kano is a bit older, but with all his cybernetic upgrades, he's deadlier than ever."

It is anticipated that NetherRealm Studios will release 'Mortal Kombat X' in 2015 for various gaming platforms, including PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 as well as PC.

Since the dawn of Mortal Kombat, Kano has been featured in all the games. According to the lore, Chief of the Black Dragon criminal empire, Kano joined the original Mortal Kombat contest, when he learned it would help him to earn riches.

Similar to all other characters, Kano will also have three variants. While Cybernetic Kano possesses various eye-laser and grenade attacks, Commando Kano possesses superior grappling skills for close-ranged combat. The third variant, Cutthroat Kano will possess "enhanced knife-fighting skills."

Towards the end of the video, the developers of the game tease the skull-emptying, eye-laser based Kano fatality. In addition, the video also displays a new stage, the Jungle.

As of now, the developers have only announced eight characters: Kano, Kotal Kahn, Raiden, Ferra, D'Vorah, Cassie Cage and Torr.

It is expected that Ed Boon will provide the fans with additional information regarding 'Mortal Kombat X' at the upcoming Gamescom scheduled to be held in Cologne, Germany from Aug. 13 to Aug. 17. In a recent tweet, the series creator has strongly hinted that he will personally make an appearance at the event.
