'Mortal Kombat X' Release Date: Game Launching 2015, Guest Heroes Likely To Be Featured

Following the huge success of NetherRealm's 'Injustice: Gods Among Us' featuring DC comic heroes Batman and Superman, comes 'Mortal Kombat X', the latest in the Mortal Kombat game in the series. The upcoming title features already popular characters such as Scorpion and Sub-Zero, and many others yet to be revealed.

In a press conference held recently for the Evo 2014 Championship Series, 'Mortal Kombat X' co-creator Ed Boon stated that guest characters will more than likely be featured in the upcoming Mortal Kombat installment, seeing as the MK character Scorpion's crossover into 'Injustice' has been popular.

While speaking to Polygon, Boon clarified, that gamers are not to expect seeing Batman or Superman in the much-awaited 'Mortal Kombat X' game.

Although Scorpion has been a very well-received guest character in 'Injustice', Boon said that he does not intend for the DC comic superheroes to cross over into the world of Mortal Kombat. The reason is simple, he feels that the DC superheroes should not suffer the brutal deaths that are iconic to the MK series.

Also confirmed to join Scorpion and Sub-Zero in the new title's cast are Raiden, D'Vorah, Kotal Kahn, Johnny Cage, Ferra (Torr), and Sonya Blade. Freddie Krueger, who has been the most downloaded guest character in 'Mortal Kombat 9', returns in the 10th installment of the game series as well.

While game developer NetherRealm has not announced an official release date for 'Mortal Kombat X' as of yet, fans can expect the title to launch sometime next year.
