'Mortal Kombat X' New Characters, Release Date: Raiden Confirmed as Playable Character

Raiden and several other classic characters like Kotal Kahn, Scorpion, Kano and Sub Zero are making a comeback in the tenth installment of NetherRealms Studios' iconic videogame franchise, 'Mortal Kombat'. The release date of 'Mortal Kombat X' next year comes with a different playing style, a different storyline, and some character updates in addition to the new ones entirely.

The player can pick from three different fighting styles according to their strategic needs during a fight. This will evidently add a layer of complexity and certain match-ups may not be as heavily one sided.

On a side note, the four-armed hulk Goro will be made available as an exclusive pre-order incentive in certain regions.

The official release date of of 'Mortal Kombat X' will be April 14, 2015.

So far, only a few playable characters have been confirmed. An insect-like woman who commands insects for attacks and combos called D'Vorah, the new emperor of the Outworld, Kotal Kahn and Cassie Cage, daughter to Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade, are set to be selectable.

Beyond that, Raiden, Goro, Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Kano- all classic MK1 characters- will also be playable.

Moving along, the new fighting style will likely capture the attention of the fans of the previous versions as several of the moves have been borrowed and combined. An example of this style is the "Hollywood" attack of Cassie Cage, in which she uses a mid-air gun much like her father. With another attack called "Brawler", her hands glow green and strike with lethal force while she is also capable of calling in missile strikes thanks to her "Spec-Ops" ability.

'Mortal Kombat X' is scheduled for release on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and the Xbox 1. A PC version of the game will also be released according to Christian Today.
