The latest installment in the popular 'Mortal Kombat' series will be seeing an addition entitled, 'Mortal Kombat X' coming out next year, 2015. The new version will feature all new guest characters and even new character abilities.

The 10th installment of the "Mortal Kombat" franchise developed by NeatherRealm Studios is set to make its launch next year.

NeatherRealm's video game programmer, Ed Boon said that the game's timeline will pick up where the previous title in the series left off. It will extend to a stretch of 25 years after to allow old characters to coincide with new ones.

Characters in the game will have different abilities and moves that will depend on the variations that the user will choose. Scorpion can either launch a fireball attack or create clones, depending on the player's choice.

The different versions of characters were developed to allow users the option of choosing one that best suits the player's fighting style or situation.

Characters in the game include Cassie Cage, daughter of series regulars Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade; D'Vorah, a new character who is half insect and half human; Ferra/Torr, a lumbering monster and a diminutive fighter who attack as a team; Kotal Kahn, an Aztec character who is supernaturally powerful.

Also joining the characters of the game is Raiden, a thunder God appointed to protect the earth realm; Scorpion, a character who rose from the dead to avenge his clan and formerly known as Hanzo Hasashi; and Sub-Zero, an assassin who uses ice.

NeatherRealm confirmed that like other "Mortal Kombat" games, the newest one will also include special guest characters, but this time, ones that gamers will not expect

The studio revealed that Freddy Krueger will be in the new game since his character was the most downloaded one in "Mortal Kombat 9," but they said that there will be no superheroes joining the game.

"I'd be hard-pressed to have a DC character as a downloadable character in 'Mortal Kombat X'," Boon said, "The main reason is, I have no desire to cut Batman's head off. I have no desire to kill Superman."

"Mortal Kombat X" will be the first series title for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but will also be available for PC and older game consoles like PS3, Xbox 360.
