'Modern Family' Season 6 Premiere Live Stream, Start Time, Spoilers: New Season Airs Tonight on ABC, Marital Issues Arise
Season 6 of ABC's award-winning comedy series 'Modern Family' will premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 24 and fans can expect new twists in the plot, together with new guest stars.
In addition to Steve Zahn and Andrea Anders, who will be portraying the characters of the Dunphys' neighbors from hell, Kristen Johnson of 'Third Rock From The Sun' will also be making an appearance in the series. A recent report from TVLine said that Johnson will appear in the role of a colleague from Mitch Pritchett's law firm who is undergoing a personal crisis.
Meanwhile, as the newlyweds strain to get their life in order and back to normal following their honeymoon stage, Cam chooses to invite Johnson's character to spend the night at their house with a view to help. Cam reportedly got more than he bargained for when he extended that invite and learned just how depressed the character really is.
Additionally, the show creators incorporated other marital issues within the upcoming season. The newlyweds Cam and Mitch will have to manage Cam's new post as varsity football coach. As Cam's nature is spirited and highly emotional, it will gradually make him buckle under pressure. Cam, who is seen as the savior of the team, feels the enormous pressure of having to deliver a good performance as coach.
In the meantime, Gloria is taking offense at Jay's deliberate disregard for his appearance and she makes an effort to get her point across by refusing to fix herself up. The season premiere preview of ABC shows a frumpy-looking Gloria who has an untidy hair and has skipped her usually spicy outfits for an extra-large shirt and a pair of sweats.
On the other hand, Phil Dunphy will need to support his wife Claire, as she is also faced with tremendous pressure from her father, Jay. Currently, she is working at Jay's office and her father is grooming Clarie to take over the business once he retires. The couple also supports their over-achieving daughter Alex, as she searches for the right college.
