'Modern Family' aired its second Season 6 episode, entitled 'Do Not Push, on Oct. 1 via ABC network. This episode turned out to be more serious than the premiere, as deeper character developments can be noted throughout its duration.

'Do Not Push' starts off with Mitch, Cam, and Lily getting ready to take a family portrait. This would mark the first time Lily is included in any of the official family photos. In fact, it was kind of her idea since she's been drawing herself into the photos Mitch and Cam have already taken together.

However, despite Lily's enthusiasm to be in a family portrait, she seems to make a strange face every time the shutter snaps. While this is not intentional, she apparently, doesn't smile very well.

Cam and Mitch notice this and try to ease her into an understanding, without upsetting her. They fail miserably and Lily storms off, refusing to take any more photos.

Stepping into the Dunphy household, the family is visiting Caltech, as a possible school for Alex. However, Claire has a secret agenda, and goads Alex into looking at Caltech's brighter points, simply because it's close to home.

Unsurprisingly, Alex has a different mindset as she's aiming for an East Coast school, such as MIT. In fact, Alex actually says this to her mother before heading off to check out Caltech on her own.

Meanwhile, Phil, Luke, and Haley take part in an on-campus experiment they encounter. They get situated in a room with a mirror and an alluring open button. There's also a sign that says "DO NOT PUSH" which makes the button ever more inviting.

The entire time they believe that a button test is the experiment they've enrolled in, however that's not the case, it's just a broken air conditioner button.

Stepping back to Alex, she meets a prospective student, who says they'd prefer to attend college closer to home. This mixes up Alex's thought about moving so far away.

On a side note, Cam and Mitch hang up one of the portraits with Lily in it without much enthusiasm.

Lastly, Jay and Gloria exchange gifts for their anniversary. Jay find out he's getting an expensive watch he's been wanting for quite some time, and gets discouraged about his gift to Gloria. He's been taking pottery classes and made a clay bunny for her.

At first, he feels his present pales in comparison to the watch, but is convinced by Manny that Gloria will love it.

Unfortunately, as Gloria is initially confused about the clay rodent, Jay poorly explains how much work he's put into the thing, which leads Gloria to believe he's hidden the real gift inside. She smashes the bunny, as Jay blames the "jeweler" for forgetting the bracelet inside.

'Modern Family' Season 6, Episode 3 and 4 air on Wednesday, October 8.
