Alex Rodriquez, Ryan Braun & Others Could Get 100 Game Suspensions, MLB Scandal is Back, Tony Bosch, Founder of Biogenesis to Testify
ESPN's Wednesday headline was exactly what the baseball world did not want to see, again.
New revelations will be forthcoming concerning the use of performance enhancing drugs by some of the major stars in Major League Baseball. Two of MLB's top players will be named in upcoming testimony by Tony Bosch, the founder of Biogenesis of America. Bosch is expected to testify that Alex Rodriquez of the Yankees, and Ryan Braun of the Brewers were two, of some twenty to thirty ballplayers, who used his services to receive performance enhancing drugs to boost their careers.
It is believed that the baseball players' union will stand strongly behind these two ballplayers, and others who will be mentioned by name. There is once again a lot of controversy swirling around the subject of PED's in MLB. Did MLB players cheat? If so, how often? How were they able to do this so discreetly under the radar? Tony Bosch is expected to unload all of the information he has (including log books, bank receipts, and other eye witnesses) to MLB authorities, so as to avoid prosecution himself. Only time will tell where all of this will end.
For those close to MLB, it is hoped that these new revelations along with Commissioner Selig's harsh penalties which will be exacted, will put an end 'to the steroid-era' of MLB and help MLB move towards a brighter and more positive future. While it is nearly impossible to totally eradicate the use of PED's in sports, it is hoped that severe measures taken in these cases will serve as an example to other players to repudiate the use of PED's in the future.
With interest in Major League Baseball somewhat on the decline, this new crisis may have a silver-lining attached to it, it may SAVE the game that so many have come to enjoy through the years!
So MLB might take a hit in the short run, but in the big picture hopefully this will be good overall for the game and popularity for years to come.
What do you guys think about the new allegations?
